  • ​Founded in 1881 in small grove of trees located 10 miles east of Charlotte, just off Albemarle Road
  • Original place of worship was known as “Stand” or “Bush Arbor”
  • Mr. Ang Wilson donated the land and hence the name “Wilson Grove” was given to the church
  • Mr. Elem Williams led the organization
  • Small frame building was erected in 1885 across the street from the street from the church where the parking lot is located now
  • Church met 1 weekend a month, with preaching on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning
  • There were 3 deacons
  • A larger building was built in 1908 and remodeled in 1925
  • The original parsonage was built in 1938 on Albemarle Road at an approx. cost of $1500
  • The original Sanctuary (currently the Chapel) was built in 1948 under the leadership of Rev. Julius Digh
  • A new parsonage was built next door to the church in 1950
  • The current Sanctuary was built in 1958 and is still used today for worship
